The Tenuta Uzielli has been in our family since 1843, when Samuele Uzielli, resident in Rome, bought it as a country residence. The name of the locality, Sensano, comes from the name of Lucius Sensius, inscribed on a Roman urn found during the works in the surrounding fields. Today the farm covers an area of 170 hectares, including cereals, olives and grapes. Jacopo, your host, is the seventh generation of the Uzielli family. We have renovated the old family villa trying to combine the comfort of modern.

History

"Tenuta Uzielli" is a family property for over 150 years, acquired by the Roman Samuele Uzielli, in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The estate, initially called Fattoria di Santa Giulia, includes the villa of Sensano, whose name could be derived from an engraving on an Etruscan urn found nearby. After the death of Samuele in 1859, the property passed to his descendants: Michele, Giuseppe and finally to his daughters Laura and Nella. Over the years, the estate was expanded with new purchases and improvements, including the construction of a cellar and pool, land donations were also made to the Municipality of Monteriggioni to build the school near the medieval church of Strove. In 1930, the sisters decided to divide the property.Nella, married Viterbo, kept the villa and 12 farms, managed in sharecropping, a traditional agricultural contract. After the Second World War, relations with sharecroppers remained good despite the trade union agitation to abolish sharecropping in 1964. The ownership of the property was officially transferred to Nella in 1973. In the following years, the family faced economic challenges, including crop deterioration. Some houses and land were sold to finance new investments. In 1992, the company was leased, allowing the property to focus on managing the real estate. Recently, significant improvements have been made to the property and the Villa has been transformed into a Holiday Home.
